Hi,

I have just set up an MX with the following;

FreeBSD 6.0
Squirrelmail 1.4.5 (installed from .tbz via 'pkg_add')
PHP 4.4.0
imap-uw (installed from source with 'env WITHOUT_SSL=YES' option)
Apapche 1.33
Postfix 2.2.5

When trying to send from the compose page it just hangs there, mail is
*not* delivered (similar "hangs when send' threads don't seem to have
this problem) and the mail log shows;

Jan 22 21:06:26 jon postfix/sendmail[94087]: fatal: Recipient addresses
must be specified on the command line or via the -t option.

The only way to 'get out of the hang' is to close the browser (IE,
Firefox, Mozilla) window. All other Squirrel mail functions appear OK.

As I have been running 2 production MX's (Mandrake / Sqirrelmail /
Postfix) for 4 years now, without any major issues, I'd appreciate some
pointers as to what I may be doing wrong.

List, order and versions of enabled plugins?

php register_globals setting

Can you reproduce your problem with standard SquirrelMail 1.4.6-rc1 package?

1. No plugins enabled. Standard 16 'out of the box' plugins available.

2. register_globals = on. Tried with Off but no change to the problem.

3.  Will try 1.4.6-rc1 tonight.

Worked until 0300 this morning. A closer look at the log entries *postfix/sendmail* seemed strange as the MDK boxes I run show *postfix/postfix* for mail sent via Squirrelmail.

/usr/sbin/sendmail on the FreeBSD box is a link to /usr/sbin/mailwrapper and I suspect this is broken. (/usr/sbin/sendmail on the MDK boxes is a link to /etc/alternatives/mta* and this works fine).

Changed &sendmail_path
to
= '/usr/local/sbin/sendmail';
and NO more problems sending from the compose page.

Log entries now show *postfix/smtp*

I understand this doesn't explain in depth what the apparent problem is , [any ideas?], but at least it's working.

Thanks for your time.

Jon
