[ maybe I should not have removed the "SM-USERS" tag at the beginning,
sf.net mailinglist manager does not seem to re-add it ...
I'll re-add it manually, see what happens.

This is a production machine and I am reluctant to use cvs versions. Do
you consider them stable enough to use in a production environment?
1.4.6 is now in full stable release, so you could try that. I installed it
a few days ago and have had no issues with it. In fact, it has cured some
problems I was having in 1.4.4.
Did you ever use it with asian fonts though?
The issues with updates like that, on a linux distro box, is that you
have to do them manually, and when you do that once, you'll have to keep
doing it.
I always try to avoid that... I think that with debian it is possible to
install single packages from other versions of the OS. Maybe I should
try using squirrelmail from the testing or unstable branch.
I have tried installing single packages from other branches before,
usually it requires different dependencies (same packages, higher
versions) and that can make a real mess ...
I think I'll just try a fresh squirrelmail copy, install it manually in
some different folder, and see what the results are with respect to
asian languages.
thanks,
johannes
