php5 is not version number. It is a whole family of PHP interpreters. Each with own issues. If you use SquirrelMail with php5, use latest stable SquirrelMail version. Make sure that you can reproduce your issues in SquirrelMail 1.4.6. If you still get corrupted attachments in IE, provide more information about used browser version and attachment encoding (quoted printable or base64).
