I agree with you. I'd rather participate in the established groups, and
with authors, to provide ideas and suggest changes. I'd rather use the
established system so that new versions are distributed via the official
site. This provides better opportunity for changes to be well tested and
any glitches to be reported, discussed and remedied.

I have no interest in some unofficial forum with quick hacks that aren't
well tested, and possibly written by authors who can't be bothered to
follow SM guidelines.
