Update your ports collection. Current FreeBSD ports contain SquirrelMail 1.4.6 which fixes this issue. If you can't upgrade to SquirrelMail 1.4.6, please turn off php register_globals. If you can't upgrade or turn off globals, check SquirrelMail KnownBugs wiki page.
