Bingo! You were right about SELinux.

If you are using SELinux on your webserver and your mailserver is on a 
different machine you need to set a boolean:
setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect=1

I can login and send mail with auth set to 'login'.

Now to figure out TLS.

BTW, what is target date for .14 release? I can get the Fedora SRPM and 
make my own RPM.
