Paul, all:
One aspect of dark color schemes (like Obsidian Coast in KDE4) is they
make
many web interfaces difficult to read. This is normally due to the existing
css schemes for many web applications like egroupware and squirrelmail that,
for the most part, presume a traditional black on white setup. The problem
areas are generally the form controls (button, text boxes, etc.) not having a
full css definition and relying to a large extent on the underlying theme.
Squirrelmail does better than most, but it still has some inputs and display
elements that don't work well with dark schemes.
I have a screenshot of sqmail with the kde4 Obsidian Coast scheme (20k):

The purpose of this post isn't to say "go change" anything now, but if
you
find yourself (anyone on the list as well) working with the sqmail interface
it is worth keeping in mind that form elements need a full css definition
(background-color, color, etc.) to insure they are readable under both light
or dark color-schemes.
So, just squirrel this post away (no pun intended) for the next time
the
color-scheme/layout is being revisited. If I have time to mess with the color
definition, I'll post the results to the list for consideration as well.
Thanks.
