Actually I think this is another problem altogether, I saw a reference to this in the list archives. Someone else was experiencing a similar problem, Sam V. said the users vpopmail was an old version, maybe try upgrading it.....

Yeah that was a real pain, I copied the libs
cp -a /usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql/* /usr/lib
ldconfig

And than contiued....

I can't seem to get the syntax right to add the mysqlclient libs for
compiling with authvchkpw.
I have qmail with vpopmail running.
