Well, if anyone is still subscribed here (Brian, maybe?) just thought I'd say bye and thanks for being around in the past to help out... And that if you get a chance, try _again_ (for me) to convince Sam or that Inter7 guy to finally kill off the ability to add subscriptions to this list. -- I'd hate for someone to dump SqWebMail because they sign up for the old list to get help, and can't get any replies whenever you leave too... assuming you really are still here, that is. ;-)
Ciao!

It is one thing to kill off the old list, but how about getting the new list to work?
I am subscribed to the new list, and have been for a while, but the message below, appears to have been eaten by the new list, as I have not received a copy that shows the message to have been distributed by the new list, even though I have been receiving messages distributed by the new list, both before and after the sending of the message below.

Hello.
I found a HowTo at http://workaround.org/articles/ispmail-sarge/ , to install and set up SQWebmail with Debian and Postfix, but it does not seem to work. The HowTo involved using Postfix, SQWebmail, MySQL, Spamassassin, Clamavis, Amavis and SASL and some courier packages (POP3 and IMAP).
We have been using fetchmail to retrieve messages from an ISP, then procmail to put the messages into appropriate mailboxes, and postfix to send messages out. The mail server runs Debian Sarge. We had been using Debian Woody, but did a dist-upgrade to Sarge, to comply with the above HowTo.
We were with an ISP that used courier as its MTA, and SQWebMail for webmail, which allowed continuous filtering of messages as they came in, which was good for spam. Then the ISP got nasty, and started blocking incoming email without our knowledge or permission. We switched domain hosting ISP's, and the current one does not have continuous filtering, so we end up downloading spam, and viral messages, both of which account for about 90% of incoming messages, and can be several thousand each day.
So, the above HowTo appeared to be the ideal solution for us.
From what I understand, the problem that we encountered with following the instructions in the above HowTo, was that we could not authenticate any mail client, be it SQWebMail, or POP or IMAP. But, we could connect to Postfix using telnet and successfully post messages.
Also, whereas we have been using fetchmail to download emails from an ISP, and procmail to put the messages in the relevant mailboxes, the above HowTo appears to not include instructions as to how to get messages from an upline mailserver and deposit them in a mailbox or other appropriate receptacle for the system to operate on.
Can anyone help us, please.
Thank you in anticipation.
