*BI Senior Developer/Architect - Cognos
**Position Description:
*
The BI architect is a Functional/Technical resource responsible for aligning
BI/DW technology solutions with business Requirements, working primarily
with business and technical specialists across all functional disciplines.
Supports the application and technical specialists in the multi-system
application architecture and has a thorough understanding of BI and data
integration technology, tools and designs for the applications involved and
the impact upon each other.
*Responsibilities: *
· Serve as the Cognos BI design expert
· Collaborate with peer architects, data architecture and data
acquisition teams on solution designs
· Responsible for all technical design deliverables (and make
improvements as needed)
· Provide guidance in defining & implementing technical
specifications & methodologies for BI solutions
· Collaborate in the designing and developing Extract, Transform and
Load (ETL) processes
· Design and develop using various Cognos Tools like Framework
Manager, Query and Report Studio, Transformer cubes and Analysis studio
· Shape and enhance the overall Cognos technical design and
development process
· Guide technical resources through design, construction, testing
and implementation
· Guide technical resources in troubleshooting and tuning of
reporting solutions.
· Keep current with Cognos software offerings and releases; work
with vendor and infrastructure team on installations and upgrades.
· Keep current with other Cognos COEs and industry best practices.
· Identify performance bottlenecks, major areas of improvement and
drive results
· Defines and implements enterprise standards and best practices and
identifies roadmap and strategy for corporate BI reporting.
· Assist in administering the Enterprise Wide BI infrastructure
*Qualifications/Requirements*:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or
related field -or- work experience equivalent to a degree.
· 5+ years experience with Cognos 8 Business Intelligence
applications, Enterprise reporting, OLAP, dimensional modeling.
· 4+ years experience with Datamart/Datawarehouse development,
implementation, and maintenance.
· Sound understanding and foundation of dimensional modeling, OLAP
technologies.
· Strong relational database experience with Oracle and stored
procedure development
· Experience with ETL processes
· Very skilled at requirements reviews, data and process modeling,
and the use of modeling tools. Knowledge of other BI tools and vendor
products is highly desirable.
· Cognos product certification a plus.
· Ability to participate and contribute in a team environment, and
to work with users of all levels to identify requirements and deliver timely
results.
· Very good technical, communication and interpersonal skills.
