Description:
1. Know UNIX and Linux. Specifically:
2. Shell scripting (a progammer type, in general, but not to the compiled
language level)
3. AWK / SED (not a requirement, but a plus and will have to learn)
4. Python a plus (BHDM)
5. Know Oracle SQL and PL/SQL. Pluses include knowing:
* SQL*Loader
* Toad (or a similar generic Oracle database access tool like
SQL*Plus or MS Access [ODBC])
6. Know basics about:
Oracle databases (connecting, querying system tables to see what's in them,
etc)
Data models (the concept of them, ERDs, mapping one model to another, etc)
Identifiers (database / surrogate and "natural" record keys, industry
standard ones like API a plus)
Generated or supplied data sources / packages / events / ...
Data maintenance procedures for maintaining generated/supplied data in a
database
Data blending, processing (e.g., position logs, spatialization),
integration, synchronization, publishing, and other pieces involved the
general flow of
data from source to consumer
Data quality-related (pro-active and re-active) knowledge a plus
Knowledge of PC applications is also expected.
