Title: Build Engineer

Location: Washington DC

Duration:6 months



The Build Engineer will be responsible for supporting the quality assurance
of Configuration Management (CM) build activities related to J2EE
environments.

This includes following build instructions and executing build scripts to
ensure applications successfully build in various application environments
through the release cycle. The Build Engineer will be part of a team that
is responsible for day-to-day CM, Release Management, and Test Verification
activities. An understanding of the fundamentals of application
dependencies and source control management is desirable. Basic system
administration knowledge to help manage and implement software engineering
practices and procedures is also desirable. Additional responsibilities
include but are not limited to:

*         Provide day-to-day system administration duties to include
installing, configuring and troubleshooting the development teams' build
scripts.

*         Use and execution of build tools to support software engineering
best practices and deployment

*         Work with multiple projects teams including development, testing,
process management, and security

*         Support to update the build and deploy documentation provided by
the application teams

*         Contribute to best practices for source control and release
management

*         Maintain change control records  and provide
reports/reviews/audits of CM activities

*         Support the development or improvement of build plans, build
scripts and release management activities

*         Provide build status to project teams and articulate build and
release engineering issues in detail

*         Collaborate effectively with peers, managers and engineers to
solve complex problems spanning their respective areas to deliver
end-to-end quality in our technology and customer experience

*         Come up with innovative ideas to improve the build process and
productivity

*          Proficiency in source control tools such as Subversion (SVN)

*         Basic system administration knowledge as well as experience using
and developing software for Windows and Unix systems

*          Strong interpersonal communication skills including listening
and oral and written

*         Demonstrated skills in the areas of critical thinking and
technical troubleshooting

*         Ability to work in a fast pace environment
