As many of you know, the SRFI process, upon its inception, adopted a copy of the Internet Task Force's RFC license, with the intent that the SRFI documents and associated reference implementations would be usable in as many circumstances as possible. Alas, there has been some dispute over the meaning of the SRFI license and whether it should be considered a free license.
Therefore, we have switched the license for the SRFI process to the MIT (X11) license: a widely accepted free license, which is GPL-compatible, OSI certified, and non-copyleft, allowing for proprietary systems to use SRFIs. A copy is appended below. All but two SRFI authors have agreed to the license change. SRFIs 5 and 24 remain licensed under the RFC-style license since we have not been able to contact the authors. All remaining SRFIs and future SRFIs are licensed under the MIT license. -- Regards, The SRFI Editors
