On HPUX each of our SA's has a root account with a login name like rootbob, rootsue, etc. It works well for the most part. Trying to do the same thing on Linux has not suceeded as well. I log in as rootcharles and get rootcharles' home directory, but doing a 'whoami' says I am rootsue, the first root account listed in the /etc/passwd. HP-UX does this too. This is no big deal until I try and ssh out and it uses the keys from rootsue's home directory instead of mine, /u/rootcharles. We each have our own home directory. Ssh on HPUX uses my correct home directory even if a whoami says I am rootsue, but Linux does not. Does anyone have any words of experience or wisdom on this matter? Charles Leeds [EMAIL PROTECTED]
