Howdy, all.

With the help of some people here, I have ssh running on a remote machine,
and am successfully using it to forward X connections. I can also forward
telnet over the link, so I am happy.

I now wish to set up a vpn using information like that in the FAQ. I am
having good luck so far when I use a Linux client, but I am stymied by how
to make a Mac or Windows client work. I have a Windows client that is
doing the forwarding, and I expect that I can get the Data Fellows option
working well on the Mac, so tunnelling ppp is the real task.

How do I get a PPP connection into my terminal program, or to a local
port/ip? Given that I can forward ports, all I need is a ppp daemon for
windows that will talk to an ip/port.

Any suggestions?

I have read the FAQ, and enough stuff on the MS site to make my head spin.
I tried the direct cable connect, but it demanded a physical com port, and
was speed limited. All of the options in the RAS panel were based on pptp
or a modem of some kind. I have had similar luck with my Mac - they all
want to go over a port, not a connection.

This seems somehow like the hacks needed back in the tia days, where one
needed a chat script that was tuned just so. The technology has advanced
enough that I cannot seem to find something quite that primitive anymore.
