users not showing up in 'w'

Turns out that half the hosts here are running SSH-2.0.10 and half of them
are using 2.0.13 I was assured that they were the same, but never checked
the version numbers on *ALL* the servers to be certain. Coincidentally,
all the machines running .13 have correct 'w' output. Ich bin dummkopf.

Thanks for the suggestions - I learned a bit. Sorry for the wild goose
chases.
