7 bits transfer is not the same as text transfer, while a 7 bits transfer
will reset the bit 7 in every byte, a text transfer will convert between
several text formats (DOS / Unix / Mac / EBCDIC, and so on).

Use the solaris program 'dos2unix' and 'unix2dos'. Check the man pages
first.
