sftp with input redirection file

Hello,

I tried to use 'sftp' no password with the input redirection file, sftp
user_name@system_name < input_file.  Input redirection file worked
successfully with 'ftp'.  However for 'sftp',  I was getting the following
message: 
Warning: tcgetattr failed in ssh_rl_set_tty_modes: Inappropriate ioctl for
device

What causes the message?  Is it possible to use input redirection file with
'sftp'?
