Interesting. I also have a 580, and have compiled 2.0.13 with no problem.
I am using AIX 4.3.2, though, and gcc:
gcc version egcs-2.91.57 19980901 (egcs-1.1 release)
which I got from the bull GNU repository. I wonder if it's a gcc problem?
