Hi,
it's not so difficult. I'm using TTSSH 1.5.1 together with Exceed 6.1 aud it works
fine.

1st: Mark the checkbox in TTSSH "Setup" -> "SSH Forwarding" which is labeled "X
Forwarding, Display Remote X applications on local server"
2nd: Start Exceed in "passive mode"
3rd: Connect with TTSSH to your UNIX box.
4th: Start your Xsession (eg. on Sun Solaris running CDE: /usr/dt/bin/Xsession)

It works fine if X11 Forwarding is enabled in your sshd on the UNIX box

/Stefan

Betreff: Re: SSH X11 Forwarding ?

Hello,
I'm new to the SSH1 protocol and perhaps someone that had a little bit of
experiance with it could give me some pointers ?
I would like to perform X11 forwarding to one of our Unix Servers , but
it's not working for me.

Here are the steps I took to try the X11 forwarding to work on TTSSH 2.3
using SSH protocol V1.5 :

a). Configure the TTSSH with Forwarding as follows:
Setup > SSH Forwarding > Add
Then Forward Local port 6000 to remote machine #.#.#.# on port 6000.
Then Save those configurations.

b).XDMCP by Query Host, XDMCP by Indirect Host and XDMCP by Broadcast are
the options that you can set in
X-Deep/32 X-Server.
I chose to use XDMCP by Query Host with the XDMCP Hostname = 127.0.0.1
(Thus all the X-Server communication would now be forwarded through the SSH
software on port 6000 /X-Server port to the
IP number is pecified #.#.#.#

c). Now ran any X11 programs all you have to do is execute them at the SSH
command prompt.

In theory this was supose to work, but I don't know what I am doing wrong
perhpas someone who got it to work properly can point out what I should
have done ?

The X-Deep software is good at the at price, compared to Exceed which costs
490. Does anyone know of any X-Server software for Windows that is
affordable and works great ? I included a couple of the ones I found on
the net, but I hope
someone can recommend one that they feel is a great deal.
Is there a difference in the security of using Exceed Vs. X-Deep if you
will be running it over SSH ?
