Slow in establishing a connection or slow during the connection itself? If
its in establishing the connection, if you are running it from
/etc/inetd.conf instead of standalone, that will slow things down while it
generates the initial keys. Also, if your using DNS lookups to validate the
remote end, if DNS is not working properly it could slow things down. If
its while the connection is active, maybe the machine or a link is
overloaded.
