Dear all,

I put RH6.2 on a clean machine (x86), tried to compile ssh 1.2.27.

Ran into the same problem as John D Scott on 5 Aug 1999 as described in

<URL:http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=secure-shell&m=93388397625792&w=2>

I was able to fix this by forcing #define HAVE_SYS_IOCTL_H 1 in config.h
against the judgement of configure. What did I not have in the first
place for configure to get this wrong? Kernel-headers RPM possibly? I do
distantly remember having installed it in the meantime...

If so, maybe it should read in the FAQ, Linux specific section, that you
need to have the kernel headers package installed for the compilation to
work?
