Hi all,
I hope this isn't too stupid a question, but when I try to connect
using SSH from home to work (or vice versa) the connection never
succeeds. I connect to the sshd fine (port 22, the default), but then
sshd selects a random port in the 700-900 range. Connections then fail
"no route to host", and ssh retries several times, on different ports,
and then gives up.
One of my collegues at work thinks it's the servers and/or routers
between home and work. If any one of them is set up to block access to
unused privaleged ports ( <1024 ), then I won't be able to connect.
I've looked at everything I can find about SSH (man pages, mail list
archives, FAQ) but nothing addresses this.

Is there ANY way I can tell ssh what ports to use for the secondary
connections? Is there anyway I can have it select a random port in the
3000, 4000, even 63000 range instead? Has anyone else had this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

        Thanks in advance,
        - Brannen
