SSH over Socks 5

Hello...if I am trying to connect to an ssh server when behind a Socks 
5 proxy do I need to specify a port when starting up ssh? Or can I 
simply run it like normal, assuming the ssh is compiled or supported w/ 
socks. Thanks for any help.
