Please Help.

Client SPARC Solaris 7, openssh 2.3.0, behind firewall
Server1 SPARC Solaris 7, openssh 2.3.0, behind firewall port 22
Server2 SPARC Solaris 7, openssh 2.3.0, behind firewall port 1022

I connect with slogin successfully to two different hosts
but through the same firewall, one on port 22, one on
port 1022.

However, I can scp to one system successfully, to port 22, but
get the following error with the other host, on port 1022.

        scp localfile remotehost:/var/tmp
        scp: select: Bad file number
        lost connection

I have rechecked, reinstalled, reread faq, and re-"torn_my_hair_out",
to no avail. There is no discernable difference between the debug
logs on the two systems. It is consistent with both a normal use
 as well as root.

Is there an obvious solution?

If you email privately, I will summarize to minimize list traffic.
Thanks for any suggestions.
