Hello,

Recently I performed an upgrade from SSH 2.1.0 Public Beta 1 to OpenSSH
2.3.0p1, which more or less ran smoothly.

Especially on the 'less' part I want to focus:

After configuring compiling and setting up the OpenSSH 2.3.0p1
successfully, I was able to connect to the server on the same machine as
the client, but instead of asked for the passphrase, an error occured
(something about incompatible keys or so).

So I re-created my own keys using the new ssh-keygen utility, placed both
the private and public key into ~/.ssh2, linked ~/.ssh2 to ~/.ssh, and
tried once again to connect to the server, running on the same system.

Just like in my previous attempt, I was not asked for the passphrase, but
this time for the unix user's password instead. After entering it, the
connection could be established successfully.

How can this be? Why am I not asked for my passphrase?

Any hints/clues/help?

Thanks in advance,
Martin
