Hi,
the responses were sent directily to me and the the solution was:
from the machine where i want restore the backup
ssh backupserver "dd if=/dev/st0" | tar -zxvf -
from my backupserver
dd if=/dev/st0 | ssh originalserver "cd /; tar -zxvf -"
you have always to cd to the directory where the tar archive starts
from.
but it brings me some new ideas, like transferring data to a machine
where that don't have space for the tar archive + the data on it's
disks. Now I can put the tar on the tape and restore anywhere I want
whithout
moving my tape driver.
Also I found some scripts/programs already done that does the backup
over ssh, I must try it.
It can be found at http://www.psychosis.com/datbkr
