Transferring Text Files From Unix to Windows

Question:
We have a question regarding transferring text files created on our Unix
machines to a Windows machine.
When we transfer text files from Unix to Windows using SSH the text files
are transferred as binary. 
Is there a way to tell SSH to keep the text formatting and not send the text
files as a binary file?
