Please check out the format of the files. The *.pub files only contain the
public key but not the corresponding hostname, so that the file formats
are different.
Let ssh create a $HOME/.ssh/known_hosts for you and look into the file to
learn the format of known_hosts files. You will easily see the difference
and how you have to edit the *.pub files to match the required format.
