Hello!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I was having a problem with 2.3.0 ssh on a SGI (Irix 5.3), so I upgraded to
2.4.0.
Compile problem: in all the Makefiles,
CFLAGS = -g -O2 <--- didn't cause optimization, so I changed
it to CFLAGS = -O2
I also got a...

for d in sshutil zlib sshmath sshreadline sshapputil sshcrypt sshproto sshsession
sshpgp sshfilexfer; do (cd $d && make includes); done

---------------------------------------------------------------------
The problem with 2.3.0 : using a ssh client running under Windows
from Cygwin, whenever I tried to use ssh to gryphon (an Irix 5.3
SGI) I got
Disconnection: Bad packet length 1397966893.
At a raw guess, without investigating the code, it looks to me like an endian
problem. The SGI is big-endian, the PC is little-endian. The Cygwin client
does contact another little-endian Unix just fine (a DEC box). Since that
little-endian Unix box (uses v2.3.0) contacts the big-endian SGI just fine,
I suspect that the problem lies in the Cygwin port.
Upgrading the SGI's ssh to 2.4.0 did not fix the problem.

C Campbell
