I would highly recommend that you go to version 2.4 or 3.0 instead of 1.2.31, 
which has a widely publicized security hole.  OpenSSH up to v2.3.0 also has this 
vulnerability, so go to the latest v2.9 to avoid the problem.  BTW. OpenSSH 
supports protocol versions 1 and 2.

Also, if your system supports PAM, you can use that for kerberos in ssh.com's 
v2.4 and 3.0 or in OpenSSH when compiled for PAM support.
