Typing "exit" exits but sshd doesn't disconnect my sessionusing OpenSSH on RedHat 6.2

Hi,

I'm having a problem which I think might be related to PAM, but I am not sure.

When I type "exit" after I am done with an ssh connection, it exits but does not 
disconnect my session and leaves me hanging on that non-disconnected session.

I'm running openssh-2.9p2-1 on a RedHat 6.2 Intel box and it was installed via RPM.

Any ideas?
