Is it possible to use som kind of "NULL-encryption" method with SSLeay?

I'm developing an SSL web proxy that enables web clients to use special
encryption hardware. I'm using SSL in order to use the "CONNECT method"
when the web client talks with the proxy. Since the proxy runs on the
same machine as the web client, it would be nice if this local SSL
connection wouldn't encrypt the data (and thus take less CPU time). I've
seen a checkbox in Netscape for "No encryption with an MD5 MAC" or
something similar. Anobody knows if this is possible?
