It does not use the registry. It uses the files cert7.db for
certificates and key3.db for private keys, the latter encrypted with
3DES.

Netscape will not document the precise format of these files, quoting
EAR. Though it might just be embarassment about how broken they are :-)

I have worked out enough about these files to read them. Information
about the certificate file is reachable from my home page.
