IMHO you've at least not taken into account the following points, Ben:
1. FRIENDLINESS:
It's not friendly how you force Eric and Tim into making a
public statement on this.
2. TEAMWORK:
You already knew that others have similar ``save the SSLeay future''
idea for a long time, but you just ignored them and instead quickly
announce the idea to make it your project. When you remember yourself, you
know that you already did a similar rude approach with the Crypozilla
project in the past.
3. LEGAL ASPECT:
You cannot easily start a new project on your own based on the existing
SSLeay 0.9.0b because of the SSLeay license. At least only as long as you
really use the original license from Eric and Tim or making a patch-kit
instead of new distribution. And such a patch-kit was the idea of the other
people I talked under 2.).
So, sorry to say this, but although I highly appreciate work in this area (and
also want to contribute my patches) I really dislike your tactical and
political approach you've again chosen.
Greetings,
Ralf S. Engelschall
