I've let this all go on without intervention because I agree. As long as
we're all civil, I don't think there's any sub-topic of this hobby into
which we shouldn't delve.

It is, as I believe Lee Hill said, difficult to understand the nuance with
which someone delivers a zinger when that delivery is via e-mail. I don't
want anyone to exclude the use or humor or sarcasm (this would lead to no
posts from yrs truely), but remember: an emoticon (-: or a grin <G> can go
a long way in getting your point across.

Write it. Read it. Walk away from it. Come back and read again. Is it
really funny? Put something on it to show that's what you think. Walk away.
Come back. Read again. Then send.

I have been working with on-line communications for 20 years (jeez I'm
old). Back in the early '80s when I actually worked for a living in the
newspaper business, we installed a system that sent little 256-character
messages between newsroom workers. I can't tell you how many times these
professional communicators came into my office and asked, "Is there any way
I can get that message back before the guy getting it can read it?"
Invariably, they had hit the SEND button too soon.

And, as another List Mom always says, "Reread what you wrote. Would you say
that to someone's face? If not, then don't say it to them in e-mail."

And now, back to the issue of whether Vance should build a 7/8ths-scale cab
for the Ruby ... ;-) ...

Best o' luck.
