self-NACK I found out that some significant changes need to be done in the plugin design these changes will effectively make some parts of these patches go away. I'll have a proof-of-concept patch (or patches) soon. Considering that bigger changes need to be done for the refcount support, I wonder if 1.6.1 is the right milestone for these changes. Any opinions on the matter are welcomed.
