Its mainly an attempt to stop a userspace mess from growing, it just bring vmwgfx in line with other drivers, so the next mesa release can work with wayland without growing an insane userspace dependency. So it would be good to have it in stable, as it would be nice if distros could pick it up, but no major problems if not.
