Well, I tried compiling the actual code under Gentoo 2004.1 (x86_64) in an Athlon64 3000+ and it ends with an error about an "inconsistent operand constraint" in atomicity.h while compiling starmap.cc. Since this is a header file that seems to come along with GCC, I'm trying to upgrade to a newer version to see if it fixes the problem. Anyone has ever had the same problem?
