We did not record this, which is too bad, as ulrich showed up and did a massive brain dump, at such high speed that I was unable to grok it all.
Aside from me trying to take the time to describe the enormous discrepancy between the numbers speedtest.net reports vs the actually bufferbloated underlying behavior of starlink, there is nothing really new in my slides here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1IjXjGUscmlxmqN5CsXb2Y-fbirzfpbpW8oSsnE5etMM/edit?usp=sharing We also ended up talking about hawaii specific problems, where due to interconnectivity issues, sites less than 15 miles away from each other are experiencing 100+ms of latency. I suggested to the participants that they look into NTIA BEAD funding and improving the local IXP infrastructure to get that down to sanity. If eugene remembers anything else that stuck with the audience? PS The wikipedia page for starlink has grown enormously since I had last looked at it, btw. Well worth reading: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starlink In particular there is now far more documentation on the military uses of starlink derived technologies than I have seen in one place. -- Podcast: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7058793910227111937/ Dave Täht CSO, LibreQos _______________________________________________ Starlink mailing list [email protected] https://lists.bufferbloat.net/listinfo/starlink
