The StarMax computers were sold in 2 flavors, home and business. The
differences were the software and the office versions included an
Ethernet card. I don't remember the brand of the card, but before
you upgrade your OS, make sure you have the most current drivers for
it. To determine the manufacture, open the TCP/IP control panel,
make sure Ethernet is selected, click on the 'Info' button, and write
down the first 3 pairs of numbers next to 'Hardware Address' (This is
your MAC address). Go to this http://www.coffer.com/mac_find/ web
site and enter the 3 pairs of numbers separated by colons (ie:
00:00:C5) and the web site should tell you the manufacturer of your
card (Farallon in my case.)
