To answer your question, you need to download the USB Adapter Card 
extensions from Apple http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n31132   I 
personally found that you need to be running OS 8.6 or better for a 
stable system, and since you are using a NewerTech G3 and a 5 slot SM 
you must place the USB card into one of the two slots closest to the 
Motherboard.   As for ASAP, don't worry about it because it does not 
report any PCI cards in the 3 slots furthest away from the MB on SM 
computers.   If you want to check your PCI slots, download PCI Prober 
and give it a try.
