Dear Laura, IF you use your JAZ drive AS A START-UP drive... then you will have to have a "blessed" System Folder installed on it. Because the StarMax series had different
CD-ROM drives than Apple used, it "disabled" any other drive other than their own OEM installed drives. Therefore, if you DON'T install another CD-ROM extension on your start-up drive, you WON'T be able to use your CD-ROM in your computer... making any MORE installs impossible. The System 9.0.4 disk is available from certain sources yet, I believe. For my own purposes, I burn my own copies with the correct CD-ROM driver installed using CD-RW disks.
