I used to run RAM Doubler with Mac OS 8.5.1, and although it did run OK, it seemed to have been a cause of instability when I upgraded to 9.0.4. I don't know whether it was or not, I just know that I returned to Mac OS virtual memory, and that is what I continue to use to this day, on my 4000/200 with 64 Mb RAM.
I think, under lower memory loads, RAM Doubler was actually faster, but once I started to tax the RAM, it was just as slow as Mac OS VM, and I've not really found any reason not to stick with Mac OS VM. For the record, I've set Mac OS VM to 128 Mb, twice the physical RAM of the machine, and the for the most part, it copes OK. More physical RAM would be a great benefit to me, though, however StarMax RAM is very expensive in the UK and I'm too lazy to see about getting any shipped over from the US. - Daniel. -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
