Its been awhile since I did it, but I just made sure I wasnt changing how it
was connected/wired.
I then just used a VERY sharp razor blade to cut the cable along the edge of
the connector.
Make sure that its a clean cut and no wires are even close to touching each
other!!

Can you just cut off the last few connectors to shorten these cables?
