There are definitely ways to burn using iTunes and external SCSI 
drives.   The list of officially supported Yamaha drives is at 
<http://www.apple.com/itunes/notes.html>   Some poking around on 
Xlr8yourMac produced this page 
<http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/itunes/itunes11_feedback.html> 
that indicates you can download a Toast update that includes driver 
files that are compatible with iTunes and support external Yamaha 
SCSI drives.
