> In the Preferences/InScript it seems as though you could choose iCab, > Netscape or Explorer... - and - > iCab: Preferences > Network > Identity/Proxies > Browser Identity
The former is used by JavaScript on pages to determine what browser you are running. The latter determines what identity string is sent to the Web server as part of each page request. Server-side scripting can process the latter (and client-side scripting (mainly JavaScript) the latter), and take different action depending on what browser is being used. If you switch them both then yes, iCab should indeed successfully masquerade as another browser, although I've never tried - I personally don't like the idea of changing in general. Webmasters (and mistresses ;) tend to design pages just for IE or NS, and by sending out an identity of iCab everywhere (browser identity is stored in server logs, and is viewable using stats programs), I'll be helping in promoting the fact that not everyone uses IE or NS. However, for the most stubborn of cases (MSN pages being one, it seems), you can enter those into the Filter Manager and have iCab pretend to be IE or MS just for those sites. - Daniel. -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
