When I connected the PS/2 keyboard to the Starmax without the KVM switch, the keyboard and mouse work fine. In your situation, I would think that your PS/2 keyboard may not be compatible with the StarMax. Can you try a different keyboard? I would test another keyboard connected directly to the PS/2 connection on the Starmax. When that works successfully, I would try the keyboard throught the KVM switch. If it does not work through the KVM, I would try my technique of starting your kvm on the PC and starting the Starmax and waiting for it to boot completely.
PS: I also recall that my Starmax did not initially work with the PS/2 keyboard. I think I had to try it a couple of times before it recognized it. I wish I could recall more. Robert C.
