Like a ton of bricks. Apples view is that we are all miscreants lost from
the fold and if only sufficient resources were denied us, we would happily
fork over a couple grand and buy new Apple systems. Remember Apple sent out
cease and decist orders to all the sites with Apple service and other
manuals, then pulled the info off all the Apple sites. The support that
exists at apple for older systems is only there because of a court order,
and Starmax isn't included.

That said, an original Starmax CD is kind of in the middle. They are kind
of rare, and also factually not very usefull unless you want to run system
7.5 something. If you still had an active Motorola warranty, they would
have some value in that Motorola might insist on only supporting issues
related to the OS it shipped with. Likewise formatting a drive and
reinstalling the original software should show the bottom line on any
problems, ie are they hardware or software related.

Personally I was very pleased when I found an original Starmax OS CD, and
paid a fair price for it after casually looking for a couple years. At that
time I posed the question to the list, asking if offering copies for some
nominial cost of duplication and shipping was a good idea, and the pretty
firm answer was no, but could you send me one free. Sorry, but that is
unethical, however I may still have some legal Power Computing OS 7.6 CD
for sale that even include a software bundle and work nicely, for that OS,
on the Starmax since they include FWB toolworks for CD.
