Just try to find out and be sure that the cdrom drive is Apple bootable.
Personally i prefer a scsi cdrom drive because that frees up the atapi/ide
controller for another Hard Drive.
I have a Matsushita  8 X SCSI CR-106.
Thats not real fast but its ok for me and is bootable.
